About Registration
Which course is suitable for my child / me?
We offer different types of courses based on age, swimming ability and experience. Please visit the courses section or contact us so we can recommend the best option. HKSA reserves the right to assign students to the appropriate level based on assessment by our head coaches.
How much should I pay?
Course fees vary according to the class you enrol in. Fees are charged every two months, no pro-rata payment is accepted, and fees are non-refundable once paid. Please check the schedule carefully for the correct amount before payment.
How can I make a payment?
Payment can be settled by cheque, bank transfer, PayMe or FPS. Please choose the method that suits you best.
When is my lesson confirmed?
A lesson place is only confirmed after payment has been received, normally within 7 days of confirmation unless otherwise specified. Admittance will not be granted without proof of payment, and the seat will be withdrawn automatically if payment is not settled by the due date. New students should also submit the signed enrolment form and terms together with the payment slip.
If my child / I cannot come for the class, what should I do?
Please notify HKSA by phone at 2295 6066, WhatsApp 5507 5333 or email knock@hkswimmingacademy.com. Casual leave should be requested at least 3 days before class. Sick leave should be requested at least 3 hours before class, and an original medical certificate or registered Chinese medicine certificate showing the relevant period is required.
What is the make-up class policy?
For group classes, up to three make-up classes for casual or sick leave can be arranged after successful registration for one full term, except Club Training, which has no make-up classes. Make-up classes must be completed before the end of term, at a different timeslot from the regular class, and cannot be changed once confirmed. No make-up, refund or credit will be given for absence without prior notice. For private classes, monthly plans do not offer make-up classes. For 10-session packages, the package is valid for 4 months from the first lesson and up to 3 casual-leave make-up classes may be granted for special reasons within that 4-month period.
What if the class has been cancelled?
HKSA reserves the right to cancel classes. If the cancellation is due to coach arrangement, make-up classes will be scheduled where possible. No refunds or credits will be issued. If the cancellation is due to special occasions, no make-up classes, refunds or credits will be offered.
What is the arrangement during bad weather?
Bad weather arrangements are venue-specific. Please refer to the terms and weather arrangement of your designated venue. No make-up class will be arranged for class cancellation under certain weather conditions. Leave applications are not accepted while Typhoon Signal No.8 or above, or Black Rainstorm Signal, is in force. After the signal is lowered, leave applications are accepted only for classes beginning 3 hours later. Amber or Red Rainstorm follows the normal make-up policy. For private classes at designated outdoor-pool venues, the guardian must notify us 3 hours before class to cancel. If the lesson is suspended within 30 minutes, an additional venue fee applies and the class may be rescheduled; after 30 minutes, it cannot be rescheduled. If the lesson is suspended because the outdoor pool is closed under extreme weather, a make-up class will be offered.
Can I change the class venue within same term or course?
Location changes are not allowed for group classes within the same term or course.
Could my child / I come to a trial class?
Yes. Students may attend one trial class only. A regular single-session fee plus a registration fee of HKD 50 will be charged. Please contact us at 2295 6066 or knock@hkswimmingacademy.com if you would like to arrange a trial class.
Will my child / I receive any certificate?
Yes. Students may receive a certificate after completing 2 terms of enrolment and passing the coach assessment.
Could I participate in the class with my child(ren)?
Parents may join their child in the water for Ripplet Starter 2 (18 months to 2 years 11 months). This course is designed to help parents build closer bonding with their child. Please visit the Ripplet Starter course page for details.
What should I prepare for the class?
You may bring a swimming cap, goggles, slippers, towel, swimsuit, wetsuit (optional), and swim nappies/diapers for Ripplet Starter 2 students.
Could I take my classes at the venue of my own choice?
Yes. For private lessons, our coaches can teach at your designated venue, subject to an additional charge.
Will Hong Kong Swimming Academy take photos or videos of my child(ren) or myself during the classes?
We may take photos and/or videos during lessons for teaching or marketing purposes. From time to time, student photos or videos may appear in newsletters, magazines, social media, or other routine promotional materials. If you prefer that no photos or videos of your child or yourself be published, please email us at knock@hkswimmingacademy.com.
What can I do if I want to find out more?

About Learning Swimming
Why are we afraid of the water?
It is completely normal to be afraid of water, because swimming ability is not inborn. No matter how afraid you are, once you find the right coach and bring determination and patience, you will be able to swim. Trust yourself, and trust us.
Which stroke should my child / I start with?
Backstroke. We believe backstroke is effective for building water confidence while also helping beginners learn an important life-saving skill in an efficient and understandable way.
Why can’t my child / I master swimming after taking classes?
You cannot run before you can walk, and learning takes time. Especially in water sports, you need determination, patience, and a suitable coach who is willing to invest time and effort in you. We can swim, and so can you. Trust yourself, and trust us.
Will Mr. Alex Fong coach?
Yes. Mr. Alex Fong does coach, and his involvement is entirely voluntary. We do not accept appointments at this stage because we must ensure that students are taught progressively by the same coach. As founder and headmaster of HKSA, Alex also makes every effort to spend time with students. Through joining lessons personally, he hopes not only to share his enthusiasm, but also to inspire students to carry on his passion for swimming. Enjoying swimming is the key.
